BREAKING: Tinubu meets Fubara to resolve Rivers crisis

In London, President Tinubu talks with suspended Governor Fubara over the political issue in Rivers. The meeting was held in London last week, just after Tinubu left Paris, according to The Africa Report. Governor Fubara, who has been itching to take back power since the president proclaimed a state of emergency in oil-rich Rivers State, reportedly demanded the meeting. As the conversation went on, Fubara pledged to make some concessions.

An assistant to the president who asked to remain anonymous because he lacked the authority to speak to the media stated, "From all indications, his suspension will be lifted before the six-month deadline, but negotiations are ongoing." In order to gain favour with the president and therefore secure protection, Fubara is also open to joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), according to another presidential aide.

He claims that "the president's chances of winning Rivers State are much higher if Fubara joins the APC." According to the Africa Report, Nyesom Wike, Fubara's estranged godfather, was not present during the meeting because he felt uneasy about such gatherings happening behind his back. To find a long-term solution to the state's crisis, Tinubu is anticipated to arrange a meeting between Fubara, Wike, and the lawmakers from Rivers State.
